Champions League tips for 10.12.2014

Roma – Manchester City . This will probably be the most interesting match on Wednesday as Roma face Manchester City in a direct battle for the second place. They both have five points and in addition, CSKA Moscow are also in the battle with the same amount, so it’s really going to be a thriller here. If Roma draw here they need to hope that CSKA don’t win against Bayern and if someone wins this clash they would qualify, regardless of the score in the other match. For the Italian side Vasilis Torosidis is a doubt but their opponents have much more problems concerning their squad selection. Star man Sergio Aguero was injured against Everton and will probably miss around a month but other key player like Yaya Toure is suspended which means The Citizens will be without their main players for this one. It’s going to be very hard for the away side and I personally think they won’t be able to win without their best players. Tip: 1 @ 2.45

Athletic Bilbao – BATE

After a horrific start to the season Atletic managed to find their form in the recent matches but lost shockingly to Cordoba during the weekend. Now they will face BATE in a match that will decide who will play in Europa League next year because Porto and Shakhtar already secured their qualifications to the 1/8 finals of the Champions League. The Belarusians conceded 22 goals in the tournament so far and it’s no surprise that there have been more than 2.5 goals in all of their games in the tournament so far. Stiker Aritz Aduriz, who missed out the loss against Cordoba, is still a doubt and will be assessed closely before the match to see if the is fit to play. Luckily for the Spanish side Iraola and Suaseta are fit and should start this one. BATE would need a win here if they want to finish third and seeing as their defense has been shocking so far we might expect to see many goals here. Tip: Over 2.5 goals @ 1.70

Barcelona – Paris Saint Germain

This battle will be for the first place in the group and PSG currently have one point more than their opponents, so a draw should suit them well. Barcelona will be without Dani Alves and Rafinha who both are suspended. It’s expected that Edinson Cavani and Marco Veratti will return to the first eleven after sitting out the match against Nantes. When you look at both teams’ attacking power you should expect many goals here, especially if Zlatan Ibrahimovic wants to prove himself against his former team. Tip: Over 2.5 goals @ 1.60

Maribor – Schalke 04

After the thrashing Schalke received against Chelsea now they need a win in Slovenia against Maribor and a win for Chelsea against Sporting to secure their qualification. But if they lose here, they’ll finish last in the group and that’s something Di Matteo doesn’t want happening. He has a long injury list – Sead Kolasinac, Joel Matip, Julian Draxler, Jefferson Farfan and Leon Goretzka will probably miss the game. Players like Boateng, Santana, Sam and Obasi are a doubt because of knocks. For the hosts Petar Stojanovic and Ales Mejac are the only players who might miss out. Schalke won just one point in their away games in the competition this season and Maribor conceded only two at home so if they want to progress Schalke need to step up their game for this match. Tip: 2 @ 1.80
