Arsenal – West Ham
. Arsenal made a statement after the disappointment against Monaco and won their next three games. West Ham are on the opposite side of things and haven’t won in their last six league matches. The Hammers are now finding themselves in 10th position and their aspirations for a spot Europe seem to be over. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain suffered an injury at Old Trafford and will miss a couple of games, but Tomas Rosicky is expected to be back for this one. The visitors will hope that Ener Valencia will recover in time to start this London derby. Centre back Winston Reid will probably be left out of the squad. We saw more than 2.5 goals in Arsenal’s last six games against West Ham and in their last five Premier League matches. Both teams have the attacking potential to score goals and their defenses aren’t their strongest assets recently.
Tip: Both teams to score @ 1.83
Espanyol – Atletico Madrid
El Classico is coming soon, which means one of the first two teams will lose points and Atletico wouldn’t want to miss out on that. Diego Simeone will be without the suspended Guilherme Siqueira and Mario Mandzukic for this match. Espanyol will be glad to have all of their players available. The team is safe in the middle of the table and they’ve been very inconsistent so far. Atletico won five out of the last six meetings against this opponent and, even though, their recent form hasn’t been impressive, their manager will want to return to winning ways and put some pressure on Barcelona and Real Madrid before next week.
Tip: 2 @ 2.05
Augsburg – Mainz 05
We saw both teams scoring in Augsburg’s four out of the last five home games and Mainz’s four out of the last six away fixtures in the league. And now these teams face each other in what promises to be a thrilling encounter. Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg is going to return to the squad after being injured but may start as a sub. The hosts surprised many by defeating in-form Wolfsburg at home and ending their recent unconvincing run. They’re back in the race for the Champions League spot and Mainz are also looking for stability under their new manager Martin Schmidt. Augsburg are undefeated in ten out of their last eleven home matches in the Bundesliga and this contrasts very much with the away form of the visitors who couldn’t win in any of their last ten away fixtures. There were more than 2.5 goals in the last three meetings between these two sides so we may see a high-scoring game.
Tip: Over 2.5 goals @ 1.80
Borussia Dortmund – Köln
Dortmund continue to have defensive problems as the team has conceded eight goals in their last three games. Now they face Köln who scored four past Frankfurt in the last round. Their manager has to make a change in defense because Kevin Wimmer is suspended after receiving a red card in that game. Both teams have something to play for and while Dortmund will try anything to achieve the impossible and qualify for Europe, Köln are only three points away from the relegation zone and need to win desperately. The last meeting between the two sides ended in an exciting 2-1 win for The Billy Goats and we are sure to be entertained again on Saturday.
