Betting Tips 17/18.02.2015 – Champions League

Paris Saint Germain – Chelsea In the first game of the Champions League elimination stage this year PSG will face Chelsea at home. The hosts drew 2-2 against Caen during the weekend by squandering a two goal lead. In addition, players like Yohan Cabaye, Serge Aurier, Lucas Moura, Marquinhos, Blase Matuidi and Javier Pastore will probably miss the match due to injuries. This doesn’t leave PSG wih many options to change the match from the bench but their starting eleven still is going to be a strong one. Jose Mourinho is almost injury free and only John Obi Mikel is a doubt but even if he’s fit he’ll probably start from the bench. Diego Costa returns from suspension and Cesc Fabregas will also start after coming off the bench against Everton which will be a huge boost to the Blues. They also didn’t play during the weekend and are more fresh than their opponents. Last year when these two sides met PSG won the first clash but now Chelsea are looking a lot stronger and the injury problems of the hosts don’t make things better for them. Tip: 2 @ 2.80 Shakhtar Donetsk – Bayern Munich Bayern destroyed Hamburger on Saturday with 8-0 and now Shakhtar really need to pull off something special to stop the Germans. The Ukrainian league is currently in winter break and Shakhtar have to maintain form with friendlies but this could be a big minus when the matches from the Champions League come. They will be without Taras Stepanenko who is suspended but all other players are available. The German champions are missing Javi Martinez, Philip Lahm and Thiago who are out with long term injuries and the likes of Rafinha, Xabi Alonso and Franck Ribery will be assessed before the match to see if they are fit. Even though Bayern scored eight goals in their last game, Shakhtar shouldn’t be underestimated and will do anything to stay in this tie. Tip: Under 2.5 goals @ 2.1 Basel – FC Porto Nobody expected Basel to qualify out of their group but the Swiss side pulled an upset and now are at the 1/8 finals. Their opponents had no trouble winning the group and are the favorites for going to the 1/4 finals. Now they face each other for the first time and it’s going to be a fairly tight clash. Porto haven’t lost in their last eight games in the Champions League and they don’t have any absences in their squad for the first leg. However, Basel will have to cope without their centre halves Ivan Ivanov (injured) and Fabian Schär (suspended). There have been less than 2.5 goals in Basel’s nine out of the last eleven fixtures and they will have to hope for a good result at home if they want to have any chance in the second match. Tip: Under 2.5 goals @ 1.62 Schalke 04 – Real Madrid The last time these two sides met Real were victorious with 9-2 on aggregate and won the tournament later. Now the Spanish side will be without many important players like James Rodriguez, Fabio Coentrao, Sami Khedira, Sergio Ramos and Pepe. Their opponents Schalke lost against Eintrach in the league last week and manager Roberto Di Matteo also has to deal with injuries. The Germans will rely on solid defense and counter-attacking football but it won’t be easy as Real are the current leaders in Liga BBVA and have won their last four games in the Champions League both at half and full time. Tip: Real Madrid win/win @ 1.90
