Football Predictions 18.01.2015 – Premier League, Serie A, Liga BBVA

Manchester City – Arsenal This undoubtedly is the biggest game on Sunday. Current champions Manchester City face Arsenal at the Etihad and after the Citizens couldn’t beat Everton last week they need to catch up with leaders Chelsea, who are two points in front of them. If City lose points against Arsenal, who are playing very uninspiring away from home, this can seriously damage their confidence and give Chelsea the chance to make the point difference even bigger. At least Arsene Wenger won’t have to worry about playing against Wilfried Bony and Yaya Toure who are participating with their team in the Africa Cup of Nations. Arsenal still have many injury problems, mainly in midfield, but the returns of Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Özil will certainly improve their chances. Two of City’s key players Kompany and Aguero will return for this match and even though Arsenal are going to be tough opponents, City need to win this if they want to keep up with the league leaders and the champions would like to capitalize on Arsenal’s poor away form against the big teams. Tip: 1 @ 1.80 Parma – Sampdoria Sampdoria have had a pretty interesting transfer window so far and it looks like Everton striker Samuel Eto’o will be joining the team soon. but first they need to concentrate on the match against Parma. The hosts are in the relegation zone and a win here would be very important for them but they had a tough match in the cup midweek and it doesn’t like that they can handle two tough games in a single week. Sampdoria will be missing only Djamel Mesbah who is with his country in the AFCON, meanwhile Parma will be without seven players due to injuries and international games. The away side had some tough games but they managed not to lose many of them and now would like to start picking up wins, which means Parma are the perfect opponent. Tip: 2 @ 2.87 Lazio – Naoli Lazio’s last seven games in all competitions have seen more than 2.5 goals in them and for Napoli the same can be said about their last three matches. These two teams like two score and this can be seen in the last two meeting in the league between them which Napoli won 4-2. They have the two best attacks in the league after Juventus and only one point separates them in the table at the moment. The hosts squandered a 2-0 lead against rivals Roma and could have now been three points clear from Napoli who lost against Juventus. Both teams have amazing strike forces and attacking football is certainly on the cards here. Tip: Both teams to score @ 1.73 Atletico Madrid – Granada After eliminating Real Madrid from the cup Atletico’s players certainly will be a little tired after such an intense game. Manzukic and Griezmann returned to training and will most likely feature, which means that the hero against Real Fernando Torres will sit on the bench for this one. Granada haven’t won since December and if they don’t change that soon, relegations seems like a high possibility. Atletico have won the last five matches against Granada in all competitions and want to extend the streak. The Colchoneros would like to save some energy and seeing that they have had a one-goal lead at half time in five of their last seven home wins, this looks like the most likely outcome here. Tip: Atletico to win at half time @ 1.61
