Tottenham – West Ham
. The Premier League on Sunday starts with the early London derby between Tottenham and West Ham. Spurs drew against Fiorentina on Tuesday in the Europa League and surprised many by playing a weakened side which means that players like Lamela, Dembele, Kane, Dier and Mason will be fresh for this fixture. Clearly Mauricio Pochettino places more importance on the Premier League but he and his team have to push hard to achieve a top four finish. Their opponents aren’t an easy squad to play against and even though Sam Allardyce has some problems with injured players. Cheikhou Kouyaté, Winston Reid, James Collins, Diafra Sakho and Matt Jarvis are all doubts for this match and this could really cause problems for West Ham if they don’t feature. We saw more than 2.5 goals in the last three meeting between these two sides and looking at the attacking power they both possess I just can’t see how this match won’t be a goal-thriller.
Tip: Over 2.5 goals @ 1.70
Southampton – Liverpool
This match is going to be very important for both sides and whoever manages to win will have a huge advantage over their opponent in the battle for a spot in Europe. Southampton’s recent form has dropped and they one only once in their last three fixtures. Liverpool, on the other hand, haven’t lost in nine games and are back in the battle for a top four position. Morgan Schneiderlin has been a key player for Soton this eason and the Saints will have to cope that he is fit for Sunday, or else they’ll have some trouble in the middle of the pitch. Unlucky for them, Ryan Bertrand and Toby Alderweireld will miss the game due to suspension and injury, so Southampton’s defense will be significantly weakened. Liverpool have no new injury concerns and will have to cope without Lucas Leiva and Steven Gerrard. Both team’s attacking stats have dropped and in my opinion nobody wants to lose this match which means both teams will try to approach this fixture carefully.
Tip: Under 2.5 goals @ 1.73
Verona – Roma
Verona’s recent run is a bad one – they lost their last three games and were overtaken by Empoli and Chievo in the league. Roma had a hard game midweek against Feyenoord and only managed to record a draw which means they will probably need to prioritize between the Europa League and the Serie A in the next weeks. Luckily for the Giallorossi, they have a five point advantage against Napoli, whereas Verona are close to the relegation zone and the pressure is on them to win. Roma won six out of the last seven meetings between these two sides and look confident to take home all three points on Sunday.
Tip: 2 @ 1.7
Real Sociedad – Sevilla
Sevilla will be tired after playing against Borussia Monchengladbach in the Europa League on Thursday and Real Sociedad will try to exploit any weaknesses in their side. But David Moyes has had some problems with his team after key man Carlos Vela was injured. They won only one of their last eight fixtures. The good news for Sociedad are the returns of Sergio Canales and Xabi Prieto to the side after recovering from minor knocks. The hosts have been solid at home this season and lost only one of their last seven games at The Anoeta. Their opponents on Sunday have lost their last four away fixtures, even though Los Nervionenses managed to score in all of them. I expect a quiet game and seeing as Sevilla played a midweek match they will probably be pleased with a draw here.
