Football Predictions 23.05.2015 – Liga BBVA, Ligue 1, Bundesliga

Athletic Bilbao – Villarreal

Bilbao need a win to qualify for the Europa League, otherwise they’ll have to rely on winning the cup final against Barcelona. They are in good form and are undefeated in their last seven home games in the league. Villareal don’t have anything to play for and they’ve drawn their last six games on the road. The visitors have many players unavailable for this game. Marin, Musacchio, Cheryshev, Asenjo, Uche and Pina are all injured while Giovani dos Santos, Vietto and Rukavina are suspended for this match. The hosts will have to deal with the absence of the injured Iker Muniain, meanwhile Exteita and Williams are doubtful. Athletic will be motivated after making a comeback against Elche and winning it 3-2. Considering Villarreal don’t have anything to play for, this game seems like a win for the home side.Tip: 1 @ 1.67

Caen – Evian Thonon Gaillard

Both teams don’t have anything to play for, so we may see an open game. Caen secured their stay in Ligue 1 while Evian couldn’t avoid relegation. The hosts ironically have the fourth best attack and the sixth worst defense in the league and we saw both teams scoring in four out of Evian’s last five away fixtures. Both sides will play without pressure and Caen will be motivated to end the season with a win while Evian have eight players unavailable for this match and conceding goals looks like a likely outcome. The hosts will be without their two centre-backs in the likes of Alaeddine Yahia and Yrondu Musavu-King which means they’ll also probably leak some goals.Tip: Both teams to score @ 1.73

Rennes – Lyon

Lyon had a good season but failed to win the decisive games at the end of it and gave the title to PSG. Rennes couldn’t find the net in their last three domestic fixtures. We saw less than 2.5 goals in six of Rennes’ last seven home matches and in five of Lyon’s last six away fixtures. Furthermore, OL will be without their key striker and the league’s top goalscorer Alexandre Lacazette who is suspended. They lost their last away game against Caen and don’t look motivated anymore. I don’t think this game will provide many goals, even though both teams will play without pressure.Tip: Under 2.5 goals @ 2.08

Hamburger SV – Schalke 04

Hamburg are the only team in the Bundesliga that have played in every season since its creation, but now they face the possibility of relegation. A win here is a must, even though it may not be enough if other results don’t go their way. Schalke are sure to qualify for the Europa League and won’t have the same motivation as their opponents. They’ll be without the suspended Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sidney Sam while Benedikt Höwedes, Atsuto Uchida, Fabian Giefer and Chinedu Obasi are injured. Hamburger will miss their star player Rafael van der Vaart so it will be up to Olic, Holtby and Lasogga to create something when going forward. Hamburger will try their best to avoid relegation and win this one.Tip: 1 @ 2.30
