The United Kingdom bookie Betfred celebrated the 100th birthday of a loyal customer. Albert ‘Bunny’ Ellis credited his long life to his wagering ways.
Last week he turned 100, the staff often see him waiting outside of the shop every morning. He waits on his mobility scooter until 8:30 until his favourite shops open.
Albert has been visiting the shop every day for approximately 50 years to place his bets. This led the boss of Betfred, Fred Done, to throw Ellis a surprise birthday party. The bookmaker invited all his relatives and friends for a lot of cake and free bets for £100. Done later on described Albert as not only the oldest and most loyal customer the company has, but also as a “real character about St Helens.”
Albert may be forced to use a scooter to keep being mobile; he credited his sharpness and continuous mental agility to the daily routine of having a flutter on the greyhounds, the Irish lottery, or the Lucky 63 Racing accumulator. Bunny also shared with us that he enjoys filling crosswords, however, what keeps his mind ticking over is working out the odds. He also stated that he was in his teens when he wagered for the first time. However, it was still illegal then.
You are probably wondering how he received his nickname, well he fathered eight children. Bunny still has a great life, and in addition to the betting and boinking he still drinks a couple of pints now and then.
