Football Predictions 01.02.2015

Southampton – Swansea. The hosts will be without two of their key players in midfield in the likes of Victor Wanyama and Morgan Schneiderlin who are injured. Jack Cork moved to Swansea and this leaves Southampton with very few options in midfield. The Welsh team has Kyle Bartley and Gylfi Sigurdsson suspended after they received red cards in the fixture against Blackburn in the FA Cup. Both teams lost in the FA Cup and will be looking to bounce back but the hosts are favorites because of their impressive home record and strong defense. Tip: 1 @ 1.60

Atalanta – Cagliari

Gianfranco Zola’s Cagliari have the third best away attack in the league but also the fifth worse defense when playing away from home. They try to play attractive football but the balance with the defense just isn’t there. Atalanta won two weeks ago against AC Milan but lost recently against Hellas Verona. Cagliari are now out of the relegation zone and will try to catch up with their opponents but that doesn’t mean that they’ll go all in for the win. Both teams don’t look consistent enough in defense and this could lead to many goals being scored. Tip: Both teams to score @ 1.83

Caen – Saint Etienne

This match sees relegation candidates Caen face 4th Saint Etienne in the 23rd round of the French Ligue 1. The hosts have been in good form recently and won their last two league matches scoring four goals in each of them but they still aren’t the favorites in this match. St. Etienne have recorded five clean sheets in their last seven away games which is a great achievement. In addition to their great away record this season they also are on a winning streak of four games against their opponents. The match certainly won’t be easy but the visitors can snatch the win. Tip: 2 @ 2.10

Werder Bremen – Hertha Berlin

A clash between two teams who score more goals in the second parts of their matches than the first ones. Werder have scored 18 out of 26 goals in their league after half time and Hertha’s 22 of 35 league goals came in the second half. Bremen are in the relegation zone and their opponents are also struggling at the moment having won only once in their last five fixtures. Both teams have defensive problems and need the full package of points so I expect a pretty open game especially in the second half. Tip: Half with most goals – 2nd @ 2.00
