Football Tips 04.11.2014 – Champions League, Championship

Zenit Petersburg – Bayer Leverkusen. After winning in the derby against CSKA Moscow at the weekend, Zenit will be motivated to prove, that they deserve to progress in the Champions League. They are currently third in the group and a win here will boost their chances dramatically. The home advantage for Zenit could play a big part in this, because we all know how hard it is to play in Russia, plus Zenit haven’t lost at home this season both in the league and in Europe. On the other hand Leverkusen suffered a defeat against Hamburg and this could have negative effect on the morale of the team. They won the previous fixture between the two teams, but have been fairly inconsistent, that’s why I think that the Russians will snatch this one. Tip: 1 @ 2.30

Arsenal – Anderlecht

Arsenal is starting to find good form, winning their last 3 games, while Anderlecht have just one win in their last five domestic league matches. The last time these two teams met The Gunners barely won, after making a comeback in the last two minutes of the match. Their chances of progressing are very good, but it’s also important to fight for the first place in the group against Dortmund, because the draw for the 1/8 finals could be much easier. That’s why I think Arsenal will give it their best and win this one. Tip: 1 @ 1.36

Dortmund – Galatasaray

Dortmund is clearly the favorite in this clash, having thrashed their opponents 4-0 in Turkey. Jurgen Klopp’s team are in terrible form in the league, but in Europe and the domestic cup they are winning without problems, which makes us think, that Klopp is desperate to win the Champions League this season and the performances of the team prove this. The Turkish side won against Kasimpasha last friday, but suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat the previous round. To me they just don’t have the quality and organization to pull an upset here. Tip: First Half/Second Half 1/1 @ 1.61

Juventus – Olympiacos

A game where Juventus desperatly need a win if they want to progress to the 1/8 finals. The Turin side was in shock last time the two teams met, when Olympiacos made a shocking result and won 1-0. Now Juventus are seeking for revenge and retribution, plus they have an amazing home record – only one loss and two draws in their last 20 home games, conceding 0.5 goals on average. Olympiacos are in good form, being undefeated in their last five games, but I think the Italian champions will put this run to an end. Tip: 1 @ 1.33

Malmo FF – Altetico Madrid

The Swedish side is coming into this game in bad form – three losses from their last four games. Atletico are on the other side of the form charts, having won four out of four. They are clear favorites for this game and even though an away game against a Scandinavian side is always though, the 5-0 thrashing in the previous fixture from Atletico shows the difference in class between the two teams. The Spanish side has a good chance to win this group and Diego Simeone will make sure they do it. Tip: 2 @ 1.36

Birmingham – Watford

The league leaders Watford travel to Birmingham for the 16th Round of the Championship. The Birmingham team is in a crisis, having lost three and drawn two of their last six matches, which included a 8-0 thrashing at home against Bournemouth. This humiliating result will still gave an effect on the team who are currently sitting 22nd in the table. The away side on the other hand is looking very confident, being undefeated in their last nine games in the league. They also have won the last four meetings between those two sides and I expect them to do it again against Birmingham, who also have a new manager in Gary Rowett. Tip: 2 @ 2.25

Derby – Huddersfield

This game is going to be pretty interesting. The fifth team in the table Derby, who aren’t in their best form, having lost their last two league matches, face mid table side Huddersfield, who havent lost in their last 7 games in the Championship. Huddersfield away record is pretty poor, having one only one of their last five fixtures, and the games between these two teams speak for themselves – The team, who played at home, won four out of their last five games. It’s form versus overall quality here, and I this game is a draw in my book. Tip: X @ 4
